A Champion for All of Albany
A Champion for All of Albany
John Rosenzweig knows what a special place Albany is. It is where he learned to ride a bike, attended school, purchased a home, raised his two sons, served as a member of the Common Council, and works as a teacher for the City School District of Albany.
For 31 years, John has dedicated his professional career to educating Albany’s future leaders as a public-school math and attendance teacher. John coached boys and girls soccer and baseball teams at Albany High School and Christian Brothers Academy for 13 years, helping our youth learn the lifelong lessons of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline.
As a Member of the Albany Common Council (8th Ward) for two terms, John supported increased fire and police protection to keep our neighborhoods safe, championed improvements to city parks and youth recreation opportunities, and led the effort to successfully implement public-access television in Albany.
Growing up in a union household, John learned from a young age the important role organized labor plays in fighting for working people and bolstering the middle class.
John is an active member of the Laborers Local 190 and the Albany Public School Teachers’ Association Local 2455, where he serves on the contract negotiation team.
John is also a member of the Albany County Democratic Committee, Albany Elks Lodge #49, Knights of Columbus Council #173, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary, and Parish of Mater Christi.
